The Easiest & Quickest Key Lime Doughnut Recipe

I don’t like complicated recipes, in fact I don’t really like to cook at all. If we’re being totally honest about it, cooking is the bane of my existence. Making messes, doing dishes, running out of dishes, flour dust everywhere, sourdough starter explosions, I mean woof, no thanks! On the other hand, I. Love. Food. So that’s why I came up with a recipe, to make the easiest and fastest key lime doughnuts. With lots of cheats and shortcuts, you will be on your way to chomping on limey deliciousness, in no time flat.

Keeping Things Simple

What is a key lime cheat or hack you ask? Store bought doughnuts and store bought frosting of course! Now you might be wondering how this is even a recipe, but trust me it is and they’re so quick to make. I consider limes a staple in my house and I try to always have them on hand. Limes are fantastic in the most unexpected places and always welcome in a dessert. I love this recipe, not just because it’s fast and easy, but because if you don’t want a dozen key lime doughnuts, you can literally buy one doughnut and cut this recipe into quarters and make one. Once, you try the recipe, you will wish you’d gotten the whole box of doughnuts!

Living Abundantly

If you’re looking to use very few dishes, save the doughnut box and place the doughnuts back into the box after dipping and drizzle the frosting while the doughnuts are in the box. If you don’t like to cook or you’re so busy that you constantly see stars, this recipe will spice up your game in the kitchen, but add no extra work to your day. These key lime goodies are absolutely delicious. If you bring these to a party, make sure to grab one or two as soon as you set them down, because they will be gone in a flash.

The Easiest & Quickest Key Lime Doughnut Recipe

Key lime flavored doughnuts with shortcuts that will have you enjoying this treat lickety split!
Prep Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • Dozen Mini Old Fashioned Doughnuts or Crullers
  • 1/2 C Store Bought Cream Cheese Frosting You can also use vanilla
  • 4 Zest from Key Limes Zest the limes that you are going to use before you juice them
  • 4 Juice from Key Limes Fresh is best, but you can use bottled too
  • 1/4 C Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  • Mix the key lime juice into the powdered sugar a little bit at a time. Add key lime juice just until the powdered sugar is wet.
  • Dip the bottom of the doughnuts into the key lime glaze. If the doughnuts are not frosted on the tops, give it an extra punch of flavor by dipping the tops too!
  • Place doughnuts on parchment paper. Melt the cream cheese frosting just so it's fluid so you can drizzle it. Drizzle the cream cheese frosting across the doughnuts with a fork or spoon.
  • Sprinkle the key lime zest on top of the doughnuts.
  • I probably don't need to say this, but you should try one!

Notes

You can substitute regular lime for key limes, but the key limes give this recipe a punchier flavor!
